Chris Hemsworth takes a break from acting due to Alzheimer's discovery

Don't expect to see Chris Hemsworth back on the big screen anytime soon; the actor is taking a break. This is due to a discovery he made in his series Limitless, which he is making for Disney+. A doctor found out that Chris Hemsworth has two sets of the gene APOE4. That means nothing to me, but it indicates that you have a significantly higher chance of developing Alzheimer's later in life. He has one set from his mother and one set from his father.
The actor has known for some time that Alzheimer's runs in the Hemsworth family; his grandfather is currently struggling with the disease. What does this discovery mean? It means that Chris Hemsworth is eight to ten times more likely to develop the disease later. Quite heavy news to receive. The doctor discovered this while filming but decided not to tell Chris on camera so that he could decide for himself whether to share this with the outside world.
His grandfather, who is currently suffering from the disease, is not doing very well: ‘I'm not sure if he actually remembers things anymore, and he speaks Dutch from time to time, which is his mother tongue.’
But does this mean that Chris's future will look like this as well? ‘It's not the definitive gene, but it is a strong indicator. Ten years ago, such a discovery would have been more definitive.’
He is currently on a promotional tour for Limitless, but afterwards he is going to take a long break: ‘This has really triggered something in me that makes me want to take a break. Right now, I'm finishing up the last things I need to do contractually. Once I'm done with this tour, I'm going home to take a break and simplify my life. Be with my kids and my wife.’
