True crime lovers, you can't miss this

Yes, there’s another documentary coming that we true crime lovers don’t want to skip. Oh, correction: we must not skip it. The creepiest ones for me are the documentaries with a lot of old footage. I don’t know why, but those home videos where you know something very grim is behind them, those are really nightmare material for me.
And yes, that’s also how The Sins of Our Mother is structured, which will be released online on Netflix on September 14. All those home videos already give me the chills, but there’s even more: the family at the center of this doc is heavily religious. Yeah sorry, that makes it even a bit grimmer for me. Alright, let’s dive into the story.
The Sins of Our Mother is about Lori Vallow, who is currently in prison. She will have to appear in court in January 2023. The charge? She is accused of murdering two of her children, her fourth and fifth husband. Holy. Shit.
You’ll probably think she’s completely insane, and that’s true, but Lori Vallow didn’t come across that way. On the contrary, she was seen by her surroundings as a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a faithful follower of God. However, behind closed doors, a great drama unfolded for years, with a lot of abuse and thus also the death of several family members.
Colby, one of Lori’s children, survived and shares his story in this documentary. He talks about how his mother abused them in the past, what it was like at home, but also how he confronts his mother in prison with everything. Believe me: this is going to be intense.
