Oops: not vacuuming under your bed is bad for your health

Cleaning is not exactly my strong suit; I usually find it a waste of my precious time. It's not that I never do it, but thorough is another matter. The worst of all is vacuuming, I always have trouble with my delicate back and that thing never really fits well everywhere. That's why it's usually a quick round: I drag the vacuum cleaner through the house and just hope that there isn't a big pile of dust left anywhere.
The spot I always skip is that piece under my bed, because that's an impossible task. Unfortunately, I recently came to a very unpleasant discovery, which is why I'm bringing this up. Not vacuuming this area can have serious consequences for your health. According to Michael Barnett (an expert in vacuum cleaners), it is therefore very important that we do this at least once a week. Just the thought of it makes me tired. But why is this so important? Well, besides hair and dust, skin flakes, pollen, bacteria, mold spores, and droppings from dust mites can also accumulate under your bed. I know: this sounds very dirty, and it is. All these filthy particles are inhaled at night and can lead to certain conditions, such as asthma.
And you don't even have to suffer from existing allergies or respiratory conditions to notice the effects of those dust particles. Those particles can penetrate deep into your lungs while you sleep, causing you to experience irritated airways. So do you often wake up with these kinds of complaints and have no idea where they come from? Now you know what it might be related to. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to vacuum under that bed once a week?
