Food & Drinks

Because of this brand, I suddenly became a whisky drinker

Man making a cocktail
Don't get me wrong; I love alcoholic treats. Always have. But I'm not necessarily what you would call an adventurous drinker. Tequila has never been my thing, just like many other strong drinks. Just give me a glass of wine or a beer and I'm happy.

So often I politely decline when someone offers me something I don't know. Very cowardly, I know. But since this year I've made some changes: trying exciting creations more often, both in food and drinks. And that's how it happened that at 32 I can suddenly say I've become a whisky drinker.

I was invited to an event by Highland Park, at Helling 7 in Amsterdam-Noord (really a recommendation by the way, what a nice place), where I was treated to a whisky tasting of this brand. Seriously, why has no one told me that whisky can actually be incredibly delicious? HAHA, I found that to be a real discovery.

My personal favorite was definitely the twelve-year-old whisky from Highland Park, but the fifteen and eighteen-year-olds were also quite tasty, I must say. The smokiness of the fifteen-year-old I found really intensely delicious by the way, so maybe that one is in the shared first place.

Does pure whisky sound a bit too intense for you? I understand, because I felt that way at first too. I discovered for myself that I secretly really enjoy it, but you can also use Highland Park whisky very well in a cocktail. Ideal for this warm weather. My favorites? Here they come.
