Oh no: dry shampoo is really bad for your hair

I can hardly imagine a life without dry shampoo. As soon as I wake up in the morning with greasy hair, I know this lifesaver is ready for me. Three sprays and voilà: clean hair and mega volume. This genius invention seems almost too good to be true, right? Well, that's exactly what I've started to wonder: is dry shampoo actually good for our hair? To be honest, I've never really worried about it, but I was a bit curious.
Unfortunately, it's a case of too good to be true: dry shampoo turns out to be no miracle cure. I'm a bit bummed about this, you know. According to dermatologist Menno Gaastra, it's actually not good for our hair at all. Here's the deal: dry shampoo removes the grease from your hair, but at the same time, it dries out our scalp. A dry scalp, in turn, leads to skin irritation. And it gets worse: this irritated scalp can ultimately even cause hair loss. Pff, my dream is shattered.
But what now? We can't just suddenly stop using dry shampoo, can we? I don't think I'm capable of that. Fortunately, there's good news: it turns out it's mainly the powder variant that is harsher on our scalp than the spray, because powder clogs the scalp faster. A good alternative? According to hair stylist Rachel Geerman, we should better swap our dry shampoo for a surf spray. This is a spray based on water and sea salt that gives your hair texture but is much less harmful. Well, let's get that as soon as possible.
