No way, is this going to be the new trend of 2022?

Yeah guys, happy new year and I'm sorry that I have to come up with something like this already. It's even more intense since you all probably have quite a nasty hangover and this might make that nausea a bit worse. Because I have some thoughts on this, you know. It really doesn't look good, does it? It makes me feel a bit queasy. In fact, I even googled whether this was a case of Photoshop, but unfortunately, it's real. And it's a trend. At least in Russia, and hopefully it won't blow over to us.
This ‘thing’ here is called ‘devil lips’ or ‘octopus lips’ and is achieved with fillers. Where this trend originated is a bit unclear, but most likely it started in Russia. A plastic surgeon named Emelian Braude is said to have come up with this.

On Instagram, it's easy to find, although many users don't find it very pretty (really). On Reddit, it was already referred to as an ‘exotic form of herpes’, while others on the internet find it ‘aesthetically pleasing in a strange way’. To quote Juf Ank: I don't find it weird, I just find it very special.
And not entirely without danger either, warns Dr. Krystyna. ‘Fillers that are injected incorrectly, as is the case here, can end up in your blood vessels and cause blockages, which can lead to tissue death.’ Ouch, that's not good. Well, I think I'll skip this trend for now.
