9 x reasons why you want to take the plane to Mexico now

Currently, I am at the beach in Mexico, where life is oh so pleasant. Like many others, I have fled from the Dutch lockdown. I must say: I am quite enjoying it so far, so I understand why everyone is heading to this paradise. I should also mention that I was actually supposed to fly to Mexico months ago, but then my flight was canceled due to the fresh corona era. Last month, I (a bit dramatically) drowned in my winter depression, so it seemed like the perfect time to use those vouchers. Mexico it is, the perfect escape. I will tell you below why.
1. No corona restrictions
This seems like a logical explanation. Mexico is one of the few countries where you do not have to quarantine upon arrival and where you don't even need to show a negative PCR test. So, no sitting miserably in your hotel room for days, but just heading straight to the beach. That's what we want. This situation is currently the case, always check before you leave if anything has changed. And if you don't have a direct flight? Then don't forget to find out what rules apply in the transit country, as you often need to show a PCR test there.
2. The sun
Another very important reason: the nice weather. Right now, I am in Sayulita, a little town on the coast, where it is 25 degrees with a gentle breeze. So you can understand that my winter depression disappears here like snow in the sun.
3. There is no corona atmosphere
Everything is fully open in Mexico, without restrictions. In the cities of Mexico, there is still a mask mandate, but as soon as you head towards the beach, you really notice nothing of corona anymore. There is also no continuous talk and speculation about it, like in the Netherlands. What a breath of fresh air.
4. It is affordable
Mexico is very affordable. In Mexico City, for example, I had to pay ten euros for an extensive lunch. Sure, you can make it as expensive as you want, but even the ‘most expensive’ places are still quite affordable compared to the Netherlands. So you are actually robbing your own wallet if you don't travel to Mexico.
5. An inspiring place full of culture
Colorful and cheerful Mexico is bursting with museums and vibrant restaurants and bars. So, soaking up culture and gaining inspiration is not that difficult here. It's so nice to feel new stimuli again, which you don't exactly get from your living room.
6. The most beautiful beaches and nature
Mexico is truly beautiful. Most Dutch people are heading en masse to Tulum, where the beaches are of course divine. But there are so many more beautiful places to find in Mexico, where you can hike beautifully in nature and discover the nicest deserted beaches.
7. The food
The food in Mexico is really very good, much better than I expected. Traditional Mexican food is of course delicious, but they also have so many other international cuisines and very trendy restaurants and bars. I also want to mention the drinks: I never really liked Margaritas, but here I drink nothing else. From kiwi to passion fruit, they really have all kinds and it is unbelievably tasty. This is a great place to live.
8. Yoga, sports, and movement
The people here are super fit and especially very easy-going. On every corner of the street, you can find a yoga studio or gym. People are constantly outside and active, so you don't have to come back fat after your vacation in Mexico.
9. Lots of dogs
Here in Mexico, you only see dogs on the street. And I don't mean stray dogs, but quite proud owners with their dogs. I told a girl in Mexico City that I totally didn't expect this. She replied that there are a lot of dog-walking services in Mexico and that's why everyone gets a dog. There are even entire parks built specifically for dogs. Isn't that amazing? This alone is a reason to go, for dog lovers.
