HOW MANY EASTER EGGS DO YOU HAVE TO EAT TO GAIN 1 KILO?

easter eggs in a bowl

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: how many easter eggs can you eat before you gain 1 kilo?

I don't know about you, but I've already lost track of the bags of easter eggs I've eaten. Because those easter eggs filled with Kinder Bueno cream:, so delicious! But how many of those things do you actually have to eat to gain a kilo?

This year we're drowning in easter eggs and the choice is really huge. The favorites in the editorial office? Those are the cookie dough eggs from Hema, the Vlaflip from Jumbo and oh yes, don't forget the all-time favorite white praline. But do we need to buy a king-size swimsuit after devouring all these eggs or is it all manageable?

Egg here, egg there
To gain one kilo, you need to eat 7000 calories too much. If you want to do that over a period of a week, that amounts to 1000 calories per day. That's on top of the usual 2000 calories that a woman or 2500 calories that a man needs daily. The question now is: how many easter eggs does that exactly amount to?

Temporary
For convenience, let's take the average calories of an easter egg. Pure easter eggs contain fewer calories than easter eggs filled with a creamy nut paste, so: 44 calories on average. To reach 7000 calories (in addition to your usual 2000 or 2500), you need to eat 159 eggs. A standard bag contains about 25 eggs.

Eat six of those and you've gained a kilo. Since the bags have been on the shelves for a while, I think I'll manage to get those six before Easter – or wait a minute: twelve. That's two kilos. Oh well, it's only temporary, right? After Easter, we'll go back to salads and green shakes.
