These four things make sure that you are always hungry

How is it that we sometimes crave food all day long? At least, I experience it that way, even though I've just eaten everything in sight. In my mind, I'm always busy thinking about what the next meal could be. And if I feel like I haven't eaten for too long? Then I get really hangry and there's no reasoning with me.
Recognizable? It could very well be due to the following things:
1. You're drinking too little water
Drinking enough water is good for countless reasons. For instance, water keeps your digestive system healthy, helps eliminate waste, is good for your skin, and so on. But did you know that water can also fill us up? Especially if we drink a glass of water before a meal, our appetite can be reduced as a result. Because water helps you stay full, you can often feel hungry if you don't drink enough of it. The consequence is that feelings of thirst can be confused with feelings of hunger. Well, there's another reason to drink enough water.
2. You're eating too many refined sugars
On this point, I am one hundred percent guilty as a sweet tooth. Processed foods like cookies, candies, chocolate, white bread, or ready-made dressings are full of refined sugars. All these products cause your blood sugar levels to spike dramatically, and while you might feel hungrier after eating a ‘healthy’ granola bar. According to research, refined sugars have such a significant impact on our brains and are the biggest culprit responsible for that feeling of hunger throughout the day. In other words: try to eat these processed and ready-made products as little as possible. Phew, this is going to be quite a challenge.
3. You're eating while distracted
I find this an interesting point, one that I actually never thought about before. Nowadays, we're all busy, busy, busy, and before we know it, we're having lunch or dinner behind our laptops. Or you decide to eat that one meal in the car since you're stuck in traffic anyway. It all seems quite efficient, but apparently, eating while distracted makes you less aware of the amount you're consuming. As a result, you miss the signals from your body that you've actually eaten enough. Various studies have shown that people who eat while distracted feel hungrier than those who have no distractions while eating. Alright, from today on, I'm going to schedule a meal time without my laptop.
4. You're not getting enough sleep
For the night owls among us, this is an absolute cliché, but unfortunately, lack of sleep can also contribute to that hungry feeling. We need sleep to regulate our appetite-stimulating hormone ‘ghrelin’. With insufficient sleep, fluctuations in ghrelin levels occur, making you feel hungrier. Additionally, sufficient sleep promotes enough ‘leptin’, a hormone that actually encourages a feeling of fullness. In short: dive back into all those huge amounts of tips for better sleep, because to get rid of that hungry feeling, a night of eight hours is recommended. Well, we'll do our best.
