6 things you recognize if you are a fan of McDonald's

This morning I returned from a lovely weekend in Paris. To wrap up the trip nicely, we ate at McDonald's on our last evening, because a vacation without McDonald's is of course not a real vacation. And no matter which country you are in, those French fries and crispy nuggets never disappoint.

I can't imagine a day will ever come when I lose interest in visits to McDonald's. After all, it's a piece of familiar childhood nostalgia, so why should we say goodbye to something so good?

The following points will surely sound familiar to all my fellow McDonald's fans:

1. For years you place the same order
McDonald's lovers naturally have their regular order. You rarely deviate from this, and when you do decide to try something else, you usually regret it nine times out of ten. My standard order: six chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, medium fries with fry sauce, and a vanilla milkshake. Delicious.

2. A different menu abroad makes you furious
Okay, every McDonald's tastes exactly the same, whether you're in the Netherlands or on the other side of the world, but what they often don't have in many countries is that tasty fry sauce from here, and that can really get me down. By the way, an even worse nightmare is the absence of sweet and sour sauce from the menu. Unfortunately, I've experienced that, which forced me to eat barbecue sauce with my nuggets. What a disaster.

3. That toy from the Happy Meal continues to surprise you
When I'm in a mild and not too hungry mood, I often order a Happy Meal with nuggets. And it doesn't matter how old you are; that cheerful surprise box continues to delight you. I also admit that I always check my toy right away and only then start eating.

4. In the car, you are always alert for yellow M's
This point also applies: as happy as a child when you spot a yellow M in the car. Because nothing is better than driving through that McDrive and then munching on your order in the parking lot of your car? I always firmly believe it's a sign when that M comes my way while driving.

5. You hate all of McDonald's competitors
Burger King or KFC: I really don't want to know anything about that. I also don't understand how some people think they all look alike, because they are really totally different worlds. Those limp thin fries from McDonald's are truly unmatched.

6. You find it incomprehensible that people feel too old for McDonald's
This really blows my mind. One moment people suddenly find themselves too grown-up for McDonald's? It's true, I know them from my own circles: those friends who think it's childish to dine at McDonald's. Isn't that incomprehensible? I really hope to keep coming here my whole life. And what I actually want most later is that golden card. This gives seniors (65+) a standard discount at McDonald's. Then the circle is complete as far as I'm concerned.
