Why going on vacation with friends is more fun than with your partner

In April, there is another trip planned with friends. With six women, we are going to London to dance, eat, and most likely drink a lot. This trip was actually supposed to take place two years ago, but due to Aunt Corona, it has been postponed four times. But well, it's almost time, and just looking forward to it is already a party. By the way, this is not the first time I am going on vacation with this group, so it will definitely be entertaining. Traveling with these friends feels like an uncomplicated, yet very chaotic school trip. Actually, you secretly have more fun than when you go on vacation with your loved one. Don't get me wrong, that's also very nice, but vacations with friends are just a bit more entertaining.
No expectations
Somehow, I always feel a kind of pressure when I go on vacation with my loved one. A feeling that it has to be fun and that nothing can go wrong, because it's high time to get closer again. Totally over-aware, then. With friends, I just assume it will be fun, so I never really worry in advance. That makes you leave a lot more relaxed.
You don't have to hold back
The school trip officially starts on the plane. Where you normally sit very nicely next to your loved one on the plane and listen to music together, you are already drinking on the plane with your friends and arrive at your destination completely drunk. There is a good party atmosphere, and everyone gets each other excited with noise and commotion.
No relationship drama
Vacation is sometimes the place to discuss all the arguments from three years ago with your loved one, because you have all the peace and space for it now. Of course, that's never a good idea, but it can happen. With friends, you don't have to deal with this, because having fun is the goal of this trip.
Anticipation
It starts, of course, during the booking and then with extensive preparations. What are you going to take? Where are we going to eat? Which bars should we go to? In the preparatory phase, hundreds of photos are sent back and forth of newly purchased outfits, especially for the vacation. You also usually pack a lot more when you go away for a weekend with friends. About double the amount of what you would take for two weeks away with your loved one.
Sharing stuff
And if you happen to forget something, you can of course share everything. Brushes, facial cleansers, shoes; everyone has enough to maintain each other for months.
Making decisions is effortless
Where you are always bickering with your loved one about how to plan the day on vacation, it seems to go a bit easier with friends. Everyone is fine with everything, as long as you are together, every activity is entertaining.
Never out of conversation
There is no end to the chatter on vacations with friends. It starts early in the morning in the bedroom and only stops again in bed when you really can't anymore. Moments of silence simply don't exist; often after such a trip, you return home anything but rested and without a voice.
The vacation song
During every trip, a song is renamed the ultimate vacation song. This song is played multiple times a day and long after as a reminder of that beautiful time.
At most, one hysterical argument occurs over nothing
If there is any irritation, it often concerns nothing and is soon laughed off. With your loved one, you can sometimes linger in the grim atmosphere, but with your friends, you never have that problem.
Shopping without guilt
It's wonderful to shop all day without feeling guilty because you've parked your loved one somewhere on a stool in the waiting room. Just casually wandering around all day and trying on everything you come across.
Every night is girls' night
The feeling you had just before a school party, but then every night before you go out with your friends on vacation. Taking turns showering, swapping clothes, doing makeup, doing hair, and then arriving way too late at the restaurant where you reserved months ago. Every night is chaos, filled with cocktails, shots, and especially many blackouts the next morning.
Endlessly complaining about your loved one
Well, you do that of course when you're away without your loved one. Especially when everyone at home has a partner, it's nice to let loose about everyone's partner. Then you all start analyzing and giving each other advice that you will never follow yourself.
The best therapy
On vacation with friends, you have plenty of time to delve deeper into conversations than when you, for example, quickly grab a coffee or go out for a bite to eat. You really have time for each other, and there is always an evening where deep but special conversations take place. I always find that very dear. Then, of course, you laugh hard again and continue drinking.
Constantly laughing
Last but not least: so much fun, and that all day long. You become very cheerful from going on vacation with friends; everything is funny, and you laugh at everything. It's almost a bit childish, but oh so entertaining. Long after such a trip, you still laugh about the strangest things that happened on vacation. Golden memories.
