THIS IS THE LEAST FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPING (NO, IT'S NOT PINEAPPLE)

The favorite pizza topping is a matter of taste. If you like vegetarian, you might order a pizza with artichokes, the meat lovers pizza is popular among true meat eaters, and then you have the tropical types who enjoy a pizza with pineapple on it. But what topping does almost nobody like? A research agency in America has looked into this. The answer is surprising.

The American research agency presented the menu of an average pizza to about six thousand people and asked them to choose. The participants were not asked to point out their favorite pizza, but rather the topping they would prefer not to encounter on the pizza. The conclusion: most participants chose anchovies when asked about their least favorite pizza topping.

Away with those salty fish
Over 60 percent of the participants in the study mentioned anchovies. Next on the list was, with 52 percent, eggplant, followed by artichoke, broccoli, and there it is, pineapple. The research also revealed a generational difference: especially participants older than 54 have a dislike for anchovies, over 70 percent. Young people do enjoy that little fish, less than half of the participants between 18 and 25 named anchovies as their least favorite.

Eggplant in second place
So why is anchovy still on every menu? Is there a large group of die-hard anchovy lovers? Not really, only 8 percent of the participants actually like anchovies. Eggplant has even fewer fans, as only 6 percent of the participants named it as a favorite.

The research also showed what the favorite topping is for most Americans: pepperoni. So if you need to order pizza for people you don't know very well and you are sure they eat meat, then a pepperoni pizza is a safe choice.
