You want to taste this cake with sparkling wine

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: the most delicious champagne cake ever.
I wouldn't call myself a real sweet tooth, but desserts and cakes that incorporate alcohol, those are definitely my weakness. From tiramisu (my favorite: the one from Lidl, really!) and champagne cake to my latest discovery: CHANDON Garden Spritz cake.
This cake is made by Huize van Wely and lovers of fine treats have been able to find this patissier flawlessly for years. Initially, the orange cake (with a crown) was created for King's Day, but the reactions were so overwhelming that the patissiers of Huize van Wely just kept baking. What makes the cake so delicious?
CHANDON Garden Spritz mousse
That is undeniably the airy CHANDON Garden Spritz mousse combined with the soft mandarin cream, alternated with layers of biscuit. Just writing about it makes me drool... And then there's that crunchy base of butter dough, which is a bit difficult to cut, but that's the only downside.
Perfect combination
Just leave your coffee maker off, because this cake pairs best with a glass of CHANDON Garden Spritz. Don't know this cheerful bubble yet? It's a sparkling wine to which a bitter orange liqueur has been added, made from oranges, herbs, and spices. You can quickly whip up a few delicious Spritzens to go with the cake:
Pour 180 ml of CHANDON Garden Spritz into a large glass. Add three to four ice cubes. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and one dried orange slice.
You can buy the CHANDON Garden Spritz cake at Huize van Wely, along with a bottle of CHANDON Garden Spritz, for €39.95.
