These are the most Googled questions of 2022

Regularly, I bother Google with pressing questions about life or just with very trivial questions that I don't dare to ask other people. Every time I discover that I'm not the first one to turn to Google with such a dilemma, I feel relieved. In fact, while typing my question, I often come across even more peculiar questions. Recognizable?

Every year it turns out again: we all Google a lot together. But what are the most Googled questions of 2022? Well, that can also be Googled. Handy, right?

1. What is Pentecost?
I certainly didn't expect this question to be number one. Apparently, Pentecost is not equally known to everyone. Was 2022 the year to finally find out why you are free during these days? Well, you're never too old to learn.

2. What is a hermaphrodite?
Given that there is increasing openness about gender diversity, I can understand this question. It seems like a good sign that more and more people want to delve into this. At least, I sincerely hope so.

3. What is 2G?
The infamous 2G society, do you remember? The severity of corona, including this approach, feels like centuries ago. Hopefully, we keep it that way in the new year.

4. What is nitrogen?
The nitrogen crisis and the subsequent farmers' protests have certainly not escaped us. How many times did you curse in traffic jams last year?

5. What is NATO?
That the war between Russia and Ukraine has raised many questions this year was to be expected.

6. What is an oligarch?
And this question, as a result of the ban on Russian oil, also comes as no surprise.

7. What is an NFT?
I must honestly admit that I also looked this up, as I couldn't get further than the suspicion that it had ‘something to do with crypto’. Okay, NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) are digital objects that you can use to show that you are the owner of a particular item. This can be an intangible item, such as a virtual artwork, music piece, or character in a game, but also a physical possession like real estate or art. Well, it still sounds very vague to me.

8. What is salmonella?
Did people suffer from this more than ever in 2022? Otherwise, I find this a bit of a Pentecost case.

9. What is the Nations League?
The non-football fans among us apparently still delved quite a bit into the Nations League. I certainly didn't.

10. What is a slap hammer?
I immediately thought of handy tools for DIY, but apparently this tool is used to create loud bangs. Slap hammers are therefore popular among young people because they do not fall under fireworks and thus not under the fireworks ban. Well, from what I read, this still seems to be an unsafe tool, so hopefully there will soon be a ban on this as well.
