Netflix tip of the day: Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey

Yeehees, my true crime heart is racing again. And it's even nicer because it's a miniseries, so that means we can binge four episodes. Coincidentally, this one has one of my favorite subjects: terrifying cults. Or in this case: the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey is its name and it is deliciously grim again. This docuseries tells the story of the Yearning for Zion Ranch in West Texas, where the police raided in April 2008. What did they discover there? Many signs of sexual, physical, and mental abuse, concealed under the name of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which was essentially just a polygamous sect.
The self-proclaimed prophet of this sect, Warren Jeffs, is the main culprit. For generations, he has used (or misused, I should say) his Mormon visions to justify polygamous relationships. The docuseries has a lot of footage from the past, which I always find makes it just a bit grimmer. In addition, several of the women are interviewed and the creators dive into Jeff Warren's past: how did he become this way?
