Netflix tip of the day: John Wayne Gacy Tapes

Killer clown John Wayne Gacy

Yesss dear true crime lovers, I have another great tip for you. Personally, I was very happy when I saw this appear on the streaming service, because this is a case I have known for years and find particularly interesting. There's a good chance you've heard of him or watched a horror movie based on this guy.

I'm talking about John Wayne Gacy, also known as the Killer Clown. He got this nickname because he regularly appeared as a clown (Pogo the Clown) at children's birthday parties. Where is the voice of Jambers when you need it? ‘During the day he was a clown at parties, but at night he transformed into a cold-blooded murderer.‘

Because he certainly was. It's really a bizarre story: 29 (!) boys and men were found in his crawl space, where he had buried them. But there were already several signs of trouble before these murders: he had already received a ten-year prison sentence for the sexual abuse of a minor boy, but due to good behavior, he only served sixteen months of that.

After his release, he continued to pursue underage boys, which led to an observation team showing up at his door. Bizarre: John Wayne Gacy invited them all for dinner, after which the entire team reported smelling a ‘penetrating odor.’ So, the beginning of the end: not long after, he turned himself in and confessed to no less than 33 murders.

Not recommended for the faint of heart, but truly a must-see for every true crime lover. And my fear of clowns has once again proven to be justified.
