Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: this is how you make Oreo macaron tarts.

For these Oreo macaron tarts, you can easily make the macarons yourself. We know: a mix from a package might not be something the French would be happy about, but hey, sometimes you can make it a bit easier for yourself. We do make the buttercream ourselves, and it contains quite a bit of crushed Oreo cookies.

INGREDIENTS
For making the macarons

  • 400 grams Brand New Cake Macaron mix
  • 80 milliliters of water
  • 1 roll of Oreo cookies

For the cream

  • 75 grams of unsalted butter
  • 75 grams of powdered sugar

Need more

  • Rolling pin
  • Ring of 10 to 12 centimeters
  • Baking sheet
  • Baking paper
  • Piping bags

This is how you make the macarons

  • Place 2 sheets of baking paper on the baking sheets. Take the ring mold and trace it with a pencil. Make sure you have four equal rings on the baking paper.
  • Put the macaron mix and water in a bowl. Mix this together on the highest speed for 5 minutes.
Take the roll of Oreo cookies and remove two. Divide the remaining Oreo cookies into two parts. Take the first part of cookies and remove the cream layer in between. Leave the second part aside until you make the buttercream.
  • Place the cookies on a cutting board and roll over them with the rolling pin.
  • Fold the cookies without cream well into the macaron mixture.
  • Put the piping tip in the piping bag and fill the bag with the mixture. Place the piping tip in the center of the ring on the baking paper. Apply pressure until the ring is filled. Do this for all four rings and ensure they are all about the same size. Flatten the peaks that form when you remove the piping bag with a wet brush. Make small macarons with the remaining batter.
  • Tip! Use these macarons to decorate the Oreo macaron tart.
Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release the air from the batter. Let the macarons rest for a maximum of one hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 140 degrees. Bake the macarons for 25 minutes. After baking, remove the baking paper with the macarons from the baking sheet. Let the macarons cool down. Carefully remove the macarons from the baking paper once they are completely cooled.

This is how you make the buttercream

  • Put the soft butter in a bowl and beat together with the powdered sugar until you have a soft cream. Whipping it airy takes a while. When the texture changes and the cream is lighter in color, it’s ready.
  • Then take the second part of cookies and leave the cream in between these cookies.
  • Place the cookies on a cutting board and crumble them with the rolling pin.
  • Fold the crumbled cookies into the buttercream mixture.

Finishing the tarts

  • Put a piping tip in the piping bag. Fill the piping bag with the Oreo buttercream. Take a macaron and pipe a layer of buttercream on it. Place another macaron on top. Pipe another layer of buttercream on that. Repeat this until you reach the last macaron.
  • Pipe a dollop of buttercream on the top layer. Decorate this layer with a leftover Oreo cookie. Crumble the second cookie and sprinkle it over the tart. Also fill the small macarons with a layer of cream.
