Mistakes everyone makes with painkillers

Stomach ache, hangover: hups, ibuprofen or paracetamol and off you go. Or you take two right away, then that menstrual pain will surely go away. But with incorrect and excessive use of paracetamol, you can even die. So let's go over the most common mistakes with medications, because otherwise you're talking about a very solid example of a remedy that is worse than the ailment.

1.Use it correctly
Paracetamol can be taken on an empty stomach, but ibuprofen affects the stomach lining if it is still empty.

2. Don't use too much
Too much paracetamol prevents the liver enzymes from doing their job properly and can ultimately even lead to death, as pharmacist Angela Chalmers recently warned in the Algemeen Dagblad.

3. Check the expiration date
Pharmacists really do not use the silly trick of putting an early expiration date on the packaging to give sales a boost. Caution is advised here. After a certain date, the effectiveness of a medication can not only decrease, it can also become dangerous.

4. Take it with water
A fresh juice seems like an oasis of health, but in combination with a painkiller, it is hell for your stomach lining.

5. Don't bite it
I know: swallowing such a painkiller is not always an easy task, but assume that everything has been thought through and that the idea is to swallow it whole so that it dissolves gently in your stomach.

6. Read the package insert
These are all notes to self by the way. I'm doing all of this completely wrong. A miracle that I'm still alive, but from now on I will improve my engaging life.
