9 x why it's a paradise at your parents' house

Nothing is better than ‘visiting’ your parents. I really experience that as an outing to paradise, where you are wonderfully pampered. Your parents' house feels like a kind of retreat, a place where you can completely escape from all the stimuli of your own chaotic life. Today I am working at my parents' house, so I am writing this from my paradise. The cups of tea and chocolate Easter eggs keep coming, and you won't hear me complain. I think I will stay a little longer for now, because the following things are really nice here.
1. A full fridge
How nice is it that the fridge at your parents' house is always richly stocked with everything you crave? When I look in my own fridge, there's only a jar of jam and, with a bit of luck, some eggs, but at my parents' house, the fridge is bursting with fresh fruit, different flavors of yogurt, pastries, and all kinds of spreads. That's what I call coming home. It seems to be refilled daily; at least, I've never caught my parents with an empty fridge.
2. The candy drawer
The candy drawer at your parents' house is and will always be the true treasure of the house. It is the first place I go to as soon as I get home. Jars of licorice and tins full of sugary Verkade cookies are waiting for me. The nice thing is that the candy drawer is always replenished, so you are never disappointed by empty tins.
3. The pantry
I have the impression that only parents have a pantry; I myself and none of my friends have such a space. Besides the candy drawer, the pantry is also the ultimate place to snack. There is usually a stock of chips, popcorn, and sometimes some other tasty surprises. It's a nice place to rummage around. Often, when I go home again, I get some tasty treats from the pantry; that's really winning.
4. You get to decide what is for dinner
When I eat at my parents' house, I can always communicate my wishes for dinner in advance. My parents can cook like the best, something I am still learning but unfortunately did not inherit from them. Therefore, it really feels like I am in a restaurant when I eat at my parents' house, but even better. I usually go for my mother's oven chicken or my father's sole. Often with fresh fries on the side, so delicious all of it. Already looking forward to tonight.
5. A lavish breakfast
Warm rolls, croissants, fresh juice, and fried eggs; that's what breakfast at my parents' house looks like. It's not just a quick bite, and you shouldn't think you can quickly leave the table. Enjoying extensively and then lingering for a long time over hundreds of coffees. Having breakfast there is truly a celebration.
6. Sleeping in your old room
How cozy is it to sleep in your old room? My room has now become a sort of second storage space, but there are still enough trinkets of mine in it. Picture frames with old photos, books, reports, and diaries. It's always entertaining to rummage around in my old room, a trip down memory lane. And nowhere do I sleep as peacefully as there.
7. It's always tidy at your parents' house
The calmness you feel at your parents' house also comes from the tranquility that the house radiates; it is always neat, and little changes. There is cozy clutter, but it is never as messy as in your own house. Moreover, your bed is always made: it doesn't matter when you arrive, the sheets are always freshly changed. It's as if time stands still there, although that is of course not the case. But it's that nice feeling you get, because the house reflects that your parents have everything under control. And that is of course not always the case, but you understand what I mean.
8. The hotel at your parents' house includes 24/7 service
As I started this article: at your parents' house, you are wonderfully pampered. Room service is available 24/7, for tea with tasty treats, for example. And when you feel like having lunch, you can just let them know, and an hour later, a lavish meal salad will be in front of you. It's truly pure enjoyment to stay at your parents' house.
9. Lounging on the couch
Lounging on the couch at your parents' house is really different from lounging at home. At your parents' house, it's much cozier because you are lying together in front of the TV. You watch old-fashioned television, something you probably don't do at home anymore. Of course, with a pot of tea and all the snacks spread out on the table. And when you decide to watch a movie together, you really watch the movie, without distractions from your phone or laptop. Lounging at your parents' house is therapeutic. It feels so nice to be home.
