The popular beauty and skincare collections of celebrities

Rihanna, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Pharrell, Hailey Bieber, Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez, and Kim Kardashian all have something in common: their fame, but they are also competitors in the beauty industry. You didn't expect that, did you? In fact, Rihanna hasn't made music for five years and has fully focused on launching various products such as makeup, skincare, and now her Fenty Beauty perfume. Launching a beauty collection isn't always easy: critical TikTokers and other beauty influencers can literally make or break your brand. If they are mega enthusiastic about your latest product, you can bet it will be sold out in no time. If your glowy cream is way too sticky and causes breakouts: goodbye to your product. It's good that we are critical because the choices are truly endless, but these ten celebs have undoubtedly passed the test. They managed to bring an award-winning collection to the market.
Rihanna: Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin
In 2017, she launched her first products, and they were an instant global success. This was due to her wide range of foundation shades that literally considered every skin color/tone. This was quite an exception in the beauty industry: can you imagine that five years ago there were still women and men who couldn't find their shade on the shelves? Due to this success, Rihanna decided to push further in the beauty industry and put music on hold.
Popular product: the shiny Gloss Bomb lip gloss that is now even being copied by several brands in their collections. It doesn't stick like a lip gloss sometimes can, and the shea butter in it provides super hydration.
Jennifer Lopez: JLo Beauty
More than twenty years ago, J.Lo came out with her own perfume Glow, do you remember that? It took a while, but the superstar launched her own skincare line in December 2020 with the tagline: ‘Beauty has no expiration date®’, and if anyone looks incredibly good at her age, it's her. We want that too, so this collection couldn't help but be a success. If you've seen the documentary Halftime on Netflix, you know that Jennifer doesn't do half measures and goes 180 percent for it, just like with this line. Hundreds of samples and tests were conducted for the best result, and if we are to believe the reviews, the collection is absolutely an award winner.
Popular product: That Hit Single, a gel cream cleanser that removes makeup and other dirt from your face and gives your skin a clean and baby-soft feel. I understand why this product is so popular because if anyone loves a nice layer of makeup, it's J.Lo, so she would know how to do it right with her cleanser.
Alicia Keys: Keys Soulcare
A few years ago, she announced that she wanted to live as naturally as possible when it comes to makeup. No thick layers of foundation and fake eyelashes anymore; she wants to show your natural beauty, and if anyone can pull it off, it's the beautiful Alicia. She believes that beauty comes from within and without, and this is reflected in her soulcare line (available at Douglas). The collection goes beyond just skincare: she wants to reach your mind and soul with her producers. How do you achieve that? By giving yourself time for your skincare routine in your busy life, even if it's just for five minutes.
Popular product: the Be Luminous Exfoliator, an exfoliating powder that you need to mix with water to activate. The mini granules turn into foam, which ensures that a matte and dull skin starts to glow again and that your skin gets a healthy glow.
Selena Gomez, Rare Beauty
Her goal with her vegan and cruelty-free collection: to make you feel good without having to hide anything. What makes you unique? That should be emphasized and not covered up under a thick layer of makeup. She would love to see everyone accept themselves a bit more as they are and that imperfections are cherished. This hasn't always been easy for Selena herself, but she works on it every day and wants to help others with it. She donates 1 percent of the revenue each year to the ‘Rare Impact fund’, which is committed to mental health care in underprivileged communities.
Favorite product: the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush that is super pigmented. You actually only need one dot, and you can beautifully blend it over your cheeks. At first, the color may be a bit intense, but it becomes more natural over time as it blends nicely with your skin.
Lady Gaga: Haus Labs
As extroverted as she is in terms of clothing and looks, since the movie A Star is Born, she has shown herself from a different side. You can see this reflected in her super clean collection. Of course, you can go wild with her products, but that wasn't her initial goal with her line. Everything has been thought through: the packaging is 100 percent recycled, and everything is cruelty-free, vegan, and environmentally friendly. Inclusivity is also very important in her collection, which is why you see not only women but also men in her campaigns.
Favorite product: the Eye-Dentify Gel Pencil Eyeliner is available in various basic colors such as black and brown, but also in bright red, yellow, purple, blue, and so on. You can go in all directions with this pencil and express your creativity by combining multiple colors. The application is said to be very easy, making it seem like it's liquid, but it is indeed a pencil. It is completely waterproof and lasts at least 18 hours.
Pharrell Williams: Humanrace
Now I must confess that I didn't know Pharrell had a skincare line, but it doesn't surprise me at all. He has been interested in skincare his whole life, and he launched his own collection in 2020. Just like with Alicia Keys' line, well-being and self-care are the main goals of this collection. Additionally, Pharrell continues to develop in terms of sustainability to strive for products that have minimal impact on the environment. His entire collection is refillable, so you don't have to replace the entire packaging and only need to refill the contents to avoid plastic and waste.
Popular product: The award-winning Rice Powder Cleanser, a powder that turns into foam upon contact with water to cleanse the skin. It is the ‘kickstarter’ of your routine and removes excess oil as well as makeup. It is skin-friendly and suitable for all skin types. Sometimes your skin can feel a bit tight after cleansing, but that doesn't happen with this cleanser due to the snow mushroom extract that retains your natural moisture and hydrates.
Kim Kardashian: SKKN Beauty
Of course, we know the super popular KKW Beauty collection, but this has been on hold since last summer. Nothing has been known about it until today, so I am very curious if there will be a continuation. However, she will launch her newest skincare line SKKN By Kim this coming Monday; could this be the continuation? The collection consists of nine different items that have been put together by Kim and (according to Kim) the best beautician in the world: Joanna Czech. Fans can't wait to try the products, and to be honest, I am also very curious. First, Kim just has to win a lawsuit because the name has apparently existed since 2018; a salon in Brooklyn is named that way. More will be known on June 21, so to be continued.
Kylie Jenner: Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Skin, and Kylie Baby
Her collection launched in 2015 is perhaps one of the most well-known, and especially her makeup line is a global success. The lip kits have made the brand so big. Everyone wanted those full lips of Kylie Jenner, and that became possible with her matte lip glosses and liners. I had to try this, just like the rest of the world, and that's why I ordered one of her nude shades from the US back then. I was positively surprised: the texture was very nice and it stayed on well. The color was a bit too dark (which makes your lips look fuller anyway), and the Kylie technique lies in ‘overlining’ your lips, coloring the white edge around your lips for the best effect. Besides her makeup collection, she also has Kylie Skin, and since she became a mother to daughter Stormi, Kylie Baby couldn't be left behind.
Popular product: The lip kits, of course. Without a doubt, ‘Kylie’ is the favorite color – huh, surprising.
Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham Beauty
I always secretly think of Victoria Beckham when I think of the Spice Girls; I was such a fan of that. She has done so much more than that, because besides her beloved fashion brand, she has also had a beautiful beauty brand since 2019. The products are each elegant and exude luxury, just as you would expect from her. The only surprising thing is: it doesn't have to be perfect for her. A smoky eye should be done in five minutes, and it can look a bit smudgy. She believes her own makeup look always looks best later in the day because it has been worn for a while.
Favorite product: the collection is so large that experts find it difficult to name one, but if they have to choose, they go for the Future Lash. These give your lashes a mega black look, and no matter how warm it is outside: it doesn't smudge. So it's impossible with this mascara that you suddenly have a black line under your eyes.
Hailey Bieber: Rhode (the only one not yet reviewed by the big beauty jury on TikTok and Instagram)
Just recently launched, but the announcement of this had been on the doormat for a while. A while ago, she already launched an Instagram page called ‘Rhode’, where thousands of followers quickly gathered, but she has really been online for a week now. If you've been following her for a while, you know she always shares tips and tricks for the most beautiful glowy skin. Even I have made her famous mask once, check it out here. What can you find in her collection? Three products: the Peptide Glazing Fluid, the Barrier Restore Cream, and the Peptide Lip Treatment in three different scents. For this collection, she has gathered the best scientists and dermatologists, and the products contain high-quality ingredients that make your skin glow after at least thirty days of use. The difference from day 1 to day 30 is also reflected on her website, and indeed: the skin looks super healthy and glowy. Unfortunately, the collection is of course sold out in no time, so I am now keeping an eye on the internet to see the reactions. Everything looks delicious in any case.
