Everything we know about the Pretty Little Liars reboot

Yeah, you might have forgotten this (just like me) a little bit: there is a reboot of Pretty Little Liars coming, called Original Sin. That news was already known in 2020, but the wait is almost over. In fact, we already have a release date and the first footage. Whuuut.

The first episode will be available on July 28 and for that you need to take a subscription to HBO Max. Fortunately, we finally have that in the Netherlands since this year, so no more hassle with vague streaming sites that mainly provide your laptop with viruses. Handy.

But what do we know so far about this reboot? Well, at least it starts off well: I. Marlene King apparently has nothing to do with it anymore. And that is very good news, because she is the one who gave us the terrible plot twists and storylines in the original. Do you need a refresher? Then just read this article with the 23 most ridiculous storylines ever in PLL. And to be honest: I could have thought of 50 more. This series was really out of control.

But who is at the helm of this reboot then? Well, I don't know if it's much better. That is Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, or the creator of Riverdale, another series that is at least just as out of control. So we will have to wait and see, because this man is also known for his bizarre storylines.

Fortunately, something is already known about the plot: it takes place in Millwood, twenty years after a series of tragic incidents have occurred (which are still being kept very secret). A group of teenage girls is being harassed by an anonymous bully (maybe it's B this time? That would be hilarious) who is blackmailing them. If they don't do what he/she wants, this anonymous person will expose their parents' secrets, who apparently did grim things twenty years ago.

In short, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will be a madhouse again. But whether that is positive or negative, we will have to wait and see. The tagline is at least already there: ‘It’s not what you think, bitches.’ Ooooooké.
