These are the reasons to take yourself on a date

The term ‘me-time’ is often linked to things like taking a foot bath, putting on a mask, meditating, going for a walk, and so on. Of course, all relaxing activities, but let's be honest: isn't this form of ‘self-love’ a bit silly?
Of course, it's important to take good care of yourself; after all, the relationship you have with yourself is the most important one. But as far as I'm concerned, ‘being kind to yourself’ doesn't necessarily have to happen at home. Can't we take ourselves on a date outside?
How about treating yourself to an elaborate five-course meal at a lovely restaurant? Or watching a beautiful movie in the cinema, with a big bucket of popcorn on your lap? Enjoying, right? Maybe you feel like wandering around a spa all day by yourself. It can all happen, we just do it way too little.
Why is that? I think many people find it strange or uncomfortable to do these kinds of things alone. Maybe they're afraid others will think they're pathetic. But I can tell you: it's just a matter of getting used to it.
For example, the first time I went to the cinema alone, I found it very uncomfortable; I really didn't understand why people did that. Nowadays, I get incredibly annoyed when I go with someone; I much prefer being alone. Enjoying a good cry without someone next to you constantly asking if everything is okay. That's what I call ‘me-time.’.
Still not convinced? Then read below why it's really a good idea to take yourself on a date:
1. It gives you time and space to think
Are the walls closing in on you because you've been worrying about something for a long time or need to make an important decision? Then you should definitely take yourself on a date. It can really help to change your environment so you can look at the situation with fresh eyes without others interfering. After that date night, hopefully, you can make the decision.
2. You don't have to consider anyone else
Which movie are we going to see and at what time? Where shall we meet? Is that restaurant you want to go to suitable for your friend with all her food allergies? And does your date even like going to a gallery? All things you don't have to think about when you go out alone. You can do whatever you feel like. Nice, right? This way, you can finally go to that one restaurant whose menu you've looked at a hundred times, but which everyone around you thinks is overly expensive. Or browse around Skins Cosmetics for hours without being rushed by your waiting friend. In short: you don't have to please anyone. A great way to discover what truly makes you happy.
3. You don't have to entertain anyone
Are you grumpy, sad, tired, or just not in the mood to socialize? Good news: you don't have to. After all, there's no date for which you need to pull your good mood out of your toes. So just keep your tracksuit on (because you don't have to dress up for anyone) and enjoy this relaxing date with yourself. Self-love all the way.
4. Your self-confidence gets a boost
As I mentioned above: taking yourself on a date is a matter of getting used to it. You may need to step out of your comfort zone. But you know what's great? Ultimately, your self-confidence gets a huge boost from this. And let's be realistic: there are worse things than dining alone or sitting at a bar. You can definitely handle that.
