Sweet tortilla chips with caramel dip

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: sweet tortilla chips with caramel dip.

Are you addicted to nachos todos, with a thick layer of melted cheese and spicy minced meat? There's a good chance you'll devour these nachos too. Because pay attention: homemade sweet tortilla chips, which you dip in... Wait, read on.

Ingredients
– 6 tortilla wraps
– 25 grams of butter
– 180 grams of sugar
– 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

Making nachos yourself isn't actually that difficult. Of course, you won't go through that trouble if you're eating savory tortilla chips, you just buy those in bulk at the supermarket, easy enough. But sweet chips, those people at Dorito's aren't that clever yet (let's pay attention, Dorito headquarters?). So you have to make those yourself.

Fortunately, that's super simple. And when you've made those sweet nachos, you obviously don't dip them in cheese sauce or guacamole, no, you make a delicious sticky caramel sauce to go with it. Light some candles, start a movie, and enjoy dipping and munching; happiness can be that easy.

Here's how to make sweet tortilla chips
1. Melt the butter in the microwave.
2. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.
3. Spread the melted butter on the tortillas. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the tortillas. Flip those wraps over and repeat on the other side.
4. Cut them into small triangles, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake them for 5 to 7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Make the caramel sauce while the chips are in the oven. Everyone has their favorite recipe for that, but this recipe for South African caramel sauce has never let me down. It can also go over ice cream, over the whipped cream on apple pie, or with a big spoon straight into your mouth.
