It exists: alcohol that won't make you gain kilos

During sports, I heard my trainer listing how many scoops of sugar are approximately in one glass of alcohol. After a quick calculation, I concluded that I would definitely be going home with an extra pack of sugar after my vacation. Although it seems that this can be somewhat limited, new research shows, it just depends on which alcoholic treat you choose.
I only have to look at a glass of wine and it moves to my hips. Now, of course, you shouldn't think that I'm going to stop because of that, have we completely lost our minds? I neither participate in a crazy beauty ideal nor do I enjoy it any less for a second. I hope this applies to you as well. Just call me indulgent, I'll just balance it out again later. If you're currently in healthy mode and want to drink something tasty, then wine is the best choice, say researchers from Iowa State University. What extremely good news this is.
No matter how you look at it, alcohol is not the healthiest substance for your body. It causes diseases in the long term that you don't want, and in the short term, it numbs your brain and you even see less clearly after a few drinks. I didn't say it was going to be all fun, did I? Alcohol tends to stick around your organs, which is called visceral fat. This is (in moderation) actually very important for your body, as it ensures that your organs don't rub against each other. Visceral fat accumulates on and around the belly, and if you have it in abundance, then the well-known beer belly appears.
The new research shows that the consumption of beer and spirits produces more visceral fat than drinking a glass of white or red wine. They compared various data from the UK Biobank and concluded that there is a link between this type of fat and the intake of quite a few shots and beer. With wine, this was much less the case. Did I just hear a cork popping from the bottle?
The only (big) catch is that it concerns a study among white men. But since the entire science (hello, are you reading along?) still mainly conducts research on white men, I take the liberty to broaden this result a bit. At least there's still something in our favor in that regard. Cheers!
