Science says: breakfast gives you a better mood

Breakfast is really my favorite meal of the day, so I prefer never to skip this moment. In the evening in bed, I can already feel so happy at the thought that I get to eat all kinds of delicious things the next morning. I see it as a kind of morning ritual, where I really take the time to make something tasty. I often make pancakes and brew fresh coffee. It’s just so nice to wake up, I must say. People who don’t have breakfast really miss something in their lives, in my opinion.
And did you know that it has been proven that people who have breakfast are in a better mood? This came to light from a study by Zespri Kiwifruit, in which 2000 Dutch people were asked about their breakfast habits. The majority of respondents (77 percent) indicated that they have breakfast every day. And apparently, the Dutch are very happy about that, because 80 percent said they have a better mood after a good breakfast. Additionally, 63 percent of breakfast eaters reported feeling vital, compared to 35 percent among non-breakfast eaters. Well, that says more than enough, right? I rarely suffer from a morning mood, so I firmly believe in this.
The study revealed a number of other interesting findings. It turns out that the Dutch spend ten to twenty minutes at the breakfast table, especially between seven and eight in the morning. And that ritual I just mentioned seems to be important to several people. For instance, 70 percent of respondents indicated that they stick to their regular routine every morning. So do you usually skip breakfast? That might explain your morning mood.
