Review: the vegan steak from Loetje

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: Review: the vegan steak from Loetje
A while ago, steak restaurant Loetje came out with big news. On the menu, alongside the ‘real’ steak (you know, that thing made of meat), there was also a plant-based steak: Loetje's Steak Bali 0.0. Our Snackspert ordered and reviewed this vegan steak and the reactions were, uh... Well, read for yourself.
Meat 2.0: a steak from the printer. That is on the menu at Loetje and is – to be honest – really indistinguishable from real steak in terms of look and feel. It sizzles in the pan, ‘meat juices’ run out, it's caramelized on the outside and pink on the inside, and it combines perfectly with Loetje's famous sambal sauce.
€24.50 FOR A PIECE OF FAKE MEAT
That is also immediately the positive news, because the internet went wild. For example, about the price of Loetje's Steak Bali 0.0; it costs €24.50. For a piece of fake meat! ‘Scammed in the Netherlands. 24.50 HAHA. For 3D meat 🥩. Too bad Loetje that you are going along with this nonsense. For 24.50 I really want to taste meat. If people want to eat plant-based, they can just eat grass outside.’ Another: ‘I'm going to smear that shop with paint, because products like this lead to rainforests being cut down to grow these raw materials.’ What do you think of this: ‘Wtbeef….that price 😮 what's in it?? Gold leaf??’ ‘€24.50?? Dude, you can buy a tournedos for that in a restaurant! 😂 The choice is quickly made.’ And: ’24€ for some dried vegetables 😂. Have you gone crazy or something.. for that price you can buy 4 steaks!’
Disgusting
Not everyone is pleased with the taste either: ‘I found the aftertaste disgusting. You really taste oil afterwards. I found it a bit nauseating.’ And: ‘It's just a bit more shredded meat and not really steak in my opinion. Mja(m), who am I? I found the taste somewhat lamb-like, and indeed that aftertaste? 3.5 stars on your screen.’ Someone else doesn't even dare to try it: ‘I'd rather die than eat that chemical thing.’
The reactions just keep coming. What do you think? Worth trying?
