Series to look forward to in 2022

Series to look forward to in 2022

Last year was, at least for me, definitely marked by binge-watching. The streaming services. Lots of movies. Perhaps even more series. Well, I blame the lockdowns. And look at what we started the new year with? Right, once again with a lockdown. A relationship that I would love to kick out the door. But okay, we stay positive and that’s not really so difficult when you see which series are still to be watched this year. This has become a great series bucket list for 2022, if I may say so myself.

1. Mocro Maffia, season 4 (from January 28 on Videoland)
YES. This is just going to be incredibly good, you know that in advance. This series needs no introduction. Can’t wait.

2. The Handmaid’s Tale, season 5 (Videoland)
Okay, this one is still a bit suspenseful, because everything regarding season 5 has been significantly delayed due to corona, but it seems that we will fortunately still get to see it this year.

3. Grace & Frankie, season 7 (Netflix)
This is going to be crying. What did you say? Crying hard. The first part of the seventh season was already on Netflix earlier, this year the very last part of the series will come and then it’s really finito.

4. Over Mijn Lijk (from today, BNNVARA)
I find this such a special, beautiful, sincere, and moving program. And Tim Hofman does this incredibly well. This week he was at the table with a few participants at Beau and it promises to be a very special season again.

5. Singletown (from January 7, Discovery+)
Moving on to another Hofman, because Rijk Hofman presents this new program together with Loiza Lamers. It promises to be very juicy: couples who are going to lead a single life to see if they like it better. It can only be drama, of course.

6. The Crown, season 5 (Netflix)
This season will take place in the nineties and will mainly revolve around the failed marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. And with all the costumes and such, of course, it’s a feast for the eyes.

7. Bridgerton, season 2 (Netflix)
Once again a feast for the eyes regarding all the costumes, although I guess many fans will miss Regé-Jean Page. By the way, this is just a reminder for you that it’s coming. I personally find this such a silly series. Can someone tell me what I’m missing?

8. MAFS Australia, season 9 (from January 31)
Unfortunately, this one can only be watched online for now, but that’s not a problem, right? This is probably what I’m looking forward to the most. I know, I’m really a person of quality TV, as you can see. But this still remains the most fun program of the moment?

9. Peaky Blinders, season 6 (Netflix)
We slowly have to say goodbye to Peaky Blinders, because after this there’s only one season left. Fortunately, the creator still wants to wrap it up with a movie, but still. Let’s enjoy Tommy Shelby a bit more then. That’s not a punishment.

10. Lupin, season 3 (Netflix)
Aiii, sorry: this is just a nice reminder for you. I couldn’t get through it. But if I’m to believe everyone, this series is brilliant. And the third season is coming. Good news, right?

11. Temptation Island (Videoland)
Yes, of course, there’s going to be another Temptation. I suspect quite soon too, because the recordings are already done. This time they went to Curaçao. Bring on the juiceeee.

12. Virgin River, season 4 (Netflix)
To dream away wonderfully. Unfortunately, there’s (still) no release date, but the recordings are already done. So it can’t take long anymore, right?

13. Hunted (from January 24, NPO 3)
I find this such a cool concept. This edition is with celebrities and that’s sometimes a bit of a shame, because then they are only on the run for a week instead of three.
