7 x why some people don't get corona

There was a time when the question circulated whether you knew ‘someone’ who had ‘it’. Corona was a kind of extraterrestrial phenomenon that suddenly emerged in our lives. Now we discuss those rare cases where people have not yet become victims of the virus. I believe I know one: my personal trainer.

A rather peculiar tweet circulated from a Chinese doctor who said that if you had not yet had corona, you probably had no friends or at least no social interaction. If you assume that the virus can only be transmitted from person to person, you could endorse this theory, but there are more factors at play, as I read on the nice site of the British Marie Claire.

1. A healthy weight

Most people who ended up in the ICU had a BMI higher than 27. According to doctors, with a too high BMI, your immune system is busy fighting the consequences of being overweight and there is no room left to fight the virus.

2. Good vitamin D level

Vitamin D is a master at fighting viruses and infections. If your vitamin D level is strong, there is a chance that your body will win the battle against the virus.

3. You exercise a lot

Ah, that would explain why my trainer has never encountered the virus. But if you exercise three times a week for 30 minutes, you are healthier and better equipped to fight viruses. This does not apply to me at all because I exercise almost every day and have had corona twice. But well, I also don't live in a…

6. Forested area

If you live somewhere with a high concentration of trees, the chance of getting corona is also smaller. Research has shown that the number of infections in these areas was lower than in less wooded areas. This may also have to do with the fact that the population density is lower there, making it easier to maintain distance, or because in wooded areas…

7. The air is cleaner

Yale Medical School has researched that in areas where air pollution is intense (such as in certain Italian cities), the infection rate is much higher than in cities that are by the sea and have much cleaner air.

As you can see: the virus is treacherous and surprising, and whether you get infected or not depends on many factors (also on things you have no control over).
