5 x sports trends that we will see again in 2022

The gyms are unfortunately still closed for a while, so the intention to regularly visit the gym has to be postponed for now. But that doesn't mean we can't exercise at all. On the contrary, we have gotten used to following online classes and perhaps many people secretly prefer this. At least I do; I really enjoy short home workouts. Of course, I sometimes miss sweating for an hour during a spinning class, but I think there is enough choice to exercise online.
But well, hopefully the gyms will just reopen in a while and then we will have even more to choose from. And what are we all going to sign up for? According to OneFit, these are the five sports trends that we will definitely see again this year.
1. Padel
Padel is something that honestly doesn't attract me much, but I have the impression that this sport has suddenly become mega popular in the last year, as everyone is talking about it. Padel is a mix between tennis and squash. You usually play it two against two, on a court with four glass walls. Maybe I should give this sport a chance after all; I actually quite like tennis.
2. Indoor cycling
This is what I really miss: cycling for an hour for your life to loud music and then going home totally exhausted. According to OneFit, indoor cycling was one of the most emerging sports at the end of the year, and they predict that its popularity will only increase in 2022. I will definitely be back as soon as I can.
3. Holistic sports
According to OneFit, people find self-care (where we focus on our mindset and emotions) increasingly important alongside sports. Think of yoga and meditation, but also cryotherapy and massages. The combination of sports and wellness is becoming increasingly popular this year. Personally, I am really longing for just a massage right now.
4. HIIT
HIIT: a short but very powerful workout, ideal to do during, before, or after work. These workouts often last between 20 and 40 minutes, and for this reason, OneFit predicts that HIIT will become one of the most booming workout routines of 2022.
5. Flexible sports
OneFit predicts that online classes will remain a success in 2022. This doesn't surprise me at all, as we are all too aware of how important movement is due to all the working from home. Clearing our heads through a workout is a must for us, so in a future that is becoming increasingly hybrid, flexible sports and choosing where and when we want to exercise will also play a role.
