40x statements from our puberty

3 women walk down the street talking to each other

Sometimes I can really miss the problems from my teenage years. At least, I can't even call them problems anymore, but I had such a hard time as a teenager. So much drama unfolded at school and every setback felt like the end of the world. My friends and I also spouted the most adult nonsense, but we really had no clue. I still feel that way regularly: like a teenager who has no clue but can pretend really well. Maybe I should throw out some old sayings again, because every now and then they actually come in quite handy.

1. ‘The whole class scored insufficient, so this five is actually quite okay.’

2. ‘That teacher really can't teach.’

3. ‘Why would I do that?’

4. ‘I'm not a little kid anymore.’

5. ‘But everyone can stay until two o'clock tonight.’

6. ‘What should we wear to the school party?’

7. ‘I’ll borrow my sister's ID.’

8. ‘Do you even know the birth date on your fake ID by heart?’

9. ‘Are you coming to watch a movie?’

10. ‘Can I maybe borrow some money? You'll get it back tomorrow.’

11. ‘Shall we go to McDonald's during the break?’

12. ‘You don't understand anything about this, dad, so I'm not going to explain it.’

13. ‘I'll clean it up in a moment.’

14. ‘I'm really getting so much stress from this.’

15. ‘I just went offline and back online on MSN, it always works.’

16. ‘What's your ping?’

17. ‘You better not say that.’

18. ‘I'll make up for that insufficient in the next period.’

19. ‘This is just so embarrassing.’

20. ‘Can't you just take me instead?’

21. ‘What are we eating tonight? Again?’

22. ‘Just calm down, I'm just asking.’

23. ‘Yeah, maybe that was in your time, but it doesn't work like that anymore now.’

24. ‘I've finished eating. Can I go back to my room?’

25. ‘Boys our age are really a few years behind.’

26. ‘It only gets a bit fun from the upper grades.’

27. ‘I hate my life.’

28. ‘This is just pure terror.’

29. ‘I really have to do everything alone.’

30. ‘I still have a lot of homework to do. Can I go?’

31. ‘What are we actually learning at school?’

32. ‘I might as well just go work.’

33. ‘Why hasn't this been washed, mom?’

34. ‘It's my life, so I'll decide for myself.’

35. ‘Sorry, but what is this about?’

36. ‘What is everyone interfering with?’

37. ‘I simply don't have time for a relationship.’

38. ‘I think he has commitment issues.’

39. ‘I will never get over this.’

40. ‘We were so young back then, right? That photo is from a year ago. We were really babies back then!’
