8 x things you recognize if you are a procrastinator

Procrastinating things for as long as I can remember. Deadlines, paying bills, preparing for something; everything must and would happen at the very last moment. Without a deadline and agreed time, I don't get moving at all. I know it: a bad trait, but also a way of life that I have come to accept. Moreover, research shows that procrastinators are not lazy, but are mainly busy with the wrong things, which is accompanied by the necessary creativity and impulsivity. Of course, I can fully relate to this. All procrastinators will undoubtedly recognize the points below.

1. You are always stressed
Well, this is of course the downside. You have at least one realization moment aka mental breakdown per day, where it hits you that your to-do list is endless. And when you notice that the deadline is approaching, panic sets in completely. That is also the starting signal to just get started.

2. Once you finally start, it takes hours to get going
First, you need to make some tea and tidy up, because otherwise you really can't start that miserable task. Then you look at your hands and think: they really need a coat of polish. After that, you get distracted at least 3749 times before you really get started.

3. You try to make the deadline disappear
This is where that creativity comes into play: how can I circumvent this deadline? And what happens if I just don't do this task? Often, you come to the conclusion that unfortunately, you can't make the deadline disappear.

4. You have strange priorities
Like drinking wine with friends or watching a movie. Even though you have a gigantic task list and deadlines are approaching, there are other things that are just a bit more important to you. If that means you have to pull an all-nighter to finish it, then you accept that. Coffee and Red Bull it is.

5. You are jealous of non-procrastinators
Of those people who stick to their own schedule, how I can be jealous of that. They have a lifestyle that I dream of and at the same time know nothing about. I wouldn't know how many times I have resolved to become just like those people. Unfortunately, it has never gone further than a resolution.

6. You learn to live with it
Despite the resolutions and frustrations that come with procrastination, you learn to live with it. You accept yourself as you are and secretly know that you will never change. Moreover, you also know that it will always turn out fine, one way or another.

7. Hyperfocus mode
As a procrastinator, you don't have all the time in the world to complete your task. That's why we have a hyperfocus mode that we apply when performing our work. And that does yield quite a nice result, if I may say so myself.

8. You are frustrated because you can do better
Okay, besides the hyperfocus mode, you sometimes just feel really frustrated with your own procrastination. You know that you could have done some things better if you had started earlier. Well, that's the risk of the trade.
