This is how you make vegan donuts from the Airfryer

Since this week I have an Airfryer again and I am so happy about it. Strange story: I already had one until I lent it to my brother and he lost it. No idea how you lose a device like an Airfryer, but he managed to do it and since then I was Airfryer-less. Until this week, because I had the task of making oliebollen for tonight and that can simply be done in an Airfryer. Ideal. I wanted to share that recipe with you all.

By the way, this one from Xiaomi is now at home, and it's also a recommendation: not too big, you can connect it with wifi (I love these kinds of gadgets) and it indicates when you need to shake the basket in between (I always forget that). I also went a bit for the looks (my previous one was so incredibly ugly) because that does count, I think. A handsome Airfryer.

Okay, do you also want to make some oliebollen tonight? It's surprisingly easy. Here's what you need (for 12 pieces, and they are also vegan):

  • 500 gr flour
  • 3 packets of instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp (sunflower) oil
  • 400 ml water (at room temperature)
  • 2-4 tbsp sugar
  • 200 gr raisins
  • 100 gr flour to roll the balls in
  • 4 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Baking spray for baking

Here's how to make the vegan oliebollen:

  1. Soak the raisins in hot water for five minutes and then pat them dry.
  2. Mix the flour, yeast, oil, water, sugar, and raisins with a food processor or mixer until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Let this batter rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the Airfryer to 200 degrees.
  5. Mix the 100 grams of flour and powdered sugar on a plate.
  6. Stir the batter well again and then make balls with greased spoons (or an ice cream scoop, if you have one), which you then roll on the plate.
  7. Cook them in the Airfryer in batches of four (eight to ten minutes, keep an eye on them), if you spray some baking spray on them they will get extra color.
  8. Turn them halfway through the time so they don't stick to the basket.
  9. All done!
