City Guide ANTIBES, Côte d’Azur

travel guide cote dazur

This year I have fallen a bit in love with the Côte d’Azur. I had never really been there, except for a city trip to Nice and Monaco. But it is so wonderful there, I must say. The weather was beautiful, the surroundings just as nice, the rosé tasted good, and I dined in the most beautiful restaurants. This is a must-visit, and I am already planning my next trip back here because I want to return. The surprise of the year? Antibes. I also spent a few days there during this trip; what an incredibly charming little town this is. A mandatory stop if you are heading this way.

And where should you eat, sleep, and drink? No worries, I have lined it all up for you.

Moorea
What a wonderful beach tent this is. Believe me: you want to spend the whole day here, but you also want to have lunch, dinner, drinks, and even shop in the boutique. And if you really want to indulge, you can book a massage as well.

Copenhagen Coffee Lab
For a coffee stop with something sweet, because you have that here. The Scandinavian cinnamon buns remain my ultimate snack, so I had to get those here, but they also have various types of baguettes, cardamom rolls, and other pastries. Delicious.

Jeanne
A place close to my heart: a cozy wine bar where you can also eat very well. The restaurant is run by two sisters who truly have a passion for their craft. All around you, there are countless bottles of wine, which you can also buy to take home. Only two types of wine are served by the glass, but several by the bottle.

Fitzgerald Bar
Drinks at a high level? Then you are in the right place. This bar, with a beautiful terrace, is part of the five-star Belles Rives Hotel. If you are not staying there, you can still sit here. Be sure to order one of the cocktails: they are really good here. It is well-known that their signature dessert, ‘La Rose Belles Rives’, is also a must-try when you are here. Prefer to have an extensive dinner? That can be at restaurant La Passagère, awarded one Michelin star and also part of this hotel.

Café Brun
For a drink after dinner with lots of coziness, Café Brun is the place to be. They also serve simple meals if you want a quick bite. At Café Brun, it is always cozy, both on the terrace and inside, and it has a snug interior.

Restaurant Le Safranier
Go. Here. For lunch. And make sure you are hungry, because the portions are huge and the pastries are calling your name. Luckily, I skipped breakfast, so after my Eggs Benedict, I still had enough room for a croissant and a delicious piece of pastry. Okay, I actually didn't have that room, but it was too good to pass up.

Where to sleep

Hôtel & Spa La Villa Port d’Antibes
Very accessible by car and within walking distance of the harbor. The beds here were really top-notch (which I always find very important in a hotel), as well as the breakfast and the service. What a lovely stay here.

What to do
Definitely visit one of the markets in Antibes, as they are certainly worth it. The most famous is the Provençal market (chosen by CNN as one of the best in the world), which is open daily from six in the morning until one in the afternoon. Note: between September 1 and May 31, the market is closed on Mondays.
