With these tips, you'll become a morning person in no time

My ultimate goal for this coming summer: to become a morning person. That sounds wonderful to me. Deep down, I believe I am already a lover of the morning, but that hasn't fully come out yet. I do get up on time, but that comes with a lot of snoozing, which apparently means you are anything but a morning person. And then there's that jealousy I feel for people who exercise before their workday: unprecedented. I know for sure: I must and will become a morning person, because that will make me happier.
That's why I've researched how to transform from a night owl into a morning person and I've listed the most important tips. So is it also your mission to start your day cheerfully in the morning? Then try the tricks below, and hopefully, we'll become a morning person in no time.
Go to bed on time
This tip is extremely obvious and at the same time the most important, because anyone who goes to sleep at three o'clock will never become a morning person. So make sure you go to bed on time and get between seven and eight hours of sleep every night. Easier said than done, of course, especially for the poor sleepers among us. Try to at least lie down early in bed without screens but with, for example, a book. We've heard this one before, and as grandma says: what lies, rests.
Ensure regularity
Besides the fact that you need to go to your bed on time, it is also very important to get up at around the same time every day. Yes, even on weekends. This way, your body can get used to waking up in the morning. This may seem like an impossible task, but with the necessary discipline, it should work. Practice makes perfect.
Stop snoozing
As I just said: snoozing is out of the question if you want to become a morning person. Instead, get out of bed as soon as that alarm goes off. Why is snoozing so bad? It only makes you more tired. Many people (including myself) tend to set their alarm half an hour earlier so they can snooze for a little longer. But this actually means you give up thirty minutes of sleep in one go for a few times of five minutes. Those short five-minute naps in a row are called fragmented sleep. In that short time, you never reach the deep sleep that ensures you rest, and that is exactly the sleep you need to tackle the morning. In other words: it's a shame to trade that precious time for a few useless short naps.
Use an old-fashioned alarm clock
This is a tip I've often seen: get an old-fashioned alarm clock and ban that phone from your bedroom. For example, use a clock radio (don't place it next to your bed) and tune it to the news, so you wake up to something interesting instead of opening your social media after snoozing multiple times on your phone.
Music
If you're going to buy that clock radio, you can also choose to be woken up by music. Cheerful music will definitely ensure a good mood in the morning. And if you really can't sleep without your phone in your room, you can always set your favorite song as a wake-up tune on your mobile.
Move in the morning
Don't worry, you really don't have to run hard for an hour right after you get out of bed, but what you can easily do in the morning are some stretching exercises to get your heart rate up. This ensures that your blood will flow faster, pumping more oxygen through your body. This gives your body a boost, which is perfect for starting your day well.
Vitamin B at breakfast
I personally am not in favor of skipping breakfast, so this tip is especially for those who don't want to miss this meal. Have breakfast with plenty of vitamin B; it's found in eggs, fruit, and vegetables. Vitamin B converts your food into energy, and we future early birds can use that.
Drink one to two glasses of water
’At night, we lose a lot of fluids, so it's important to replenish that deficiency with water in the morning. This way, your body can function optimally again, and you'll be clearer in mind faster. I can't make it any easier for you. By the way, I've been doing this for a long time, so in that respect, I'm already well on my way.
No sugar in the evening
We'd rather not hear this, but avoid foods that give you energy in the evening. We understand that we shouldn't drink coffee before going to sleep, but staying away from chocolate and candies will be more difficult. But hey, do you want to become a morning person or not? So stay away from that candy jar.
