Tip of the day: this way you will be free for 50 days in 2022

The new year has just begun, but aren't we already in need of a vacation? Especially now that there's not much happening in this country, quite a few people are choosing to pack their bags. I myself am one of those people, because in ten days I'm leaving for Mexico for a month, greetings. Nice to escape my winter depression, I can't wait. Just planning this trip made me incredibly happy. A bright spot to look forward to when you're feeling down. I wish this for everyone, and now I hear you thinking: yes, but I only have twenty vacation days, well, I have good news for you. With a handy trick, it is actually possible to be off for no less than 50 days this year. Yes, you heard that right: 50 days.
Legally, we in the Netherlands are entitled to 20 vacation days, but most employers add a few more days to that. To be off for 50 days, you need to take 18 vacation days, so that will definitely work. How do you arrange those 50 days off? I'll explain it to you in detail. Below, I provide different options for optimally using vacation days, it's up to you how and when you want to take time off, of course.
April 9 to April 17 (nine days off for four vacation days)
We start with the Easter period. Are you off on Good Friday? Then it's best to take off from April 11 to April 14. This way, you have nine consecutive days off, while it only costs you four vacation days. Ideal, right?
April 16 to May 1 off (sixteen days off for eight vacation days)
Not off on Good Friday? No problem: even without this day off, you can enjoy a long vacation in April, because don't forget King's Day. To have sixteen days of vacation in exchange for eight vacation days, take off on April 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, and 29.
April 9 to May 1 off (23 days off for twelve vacation days)
When you combine Good Friday and Easter, you can be off for 23 days in exchange for twelve vacation days. The sky is the limit.
May 26 to June 6 (twelve days off for six vacation days)
There is so much more possible. When you request off for May 27 and May 30 to June 3, you get twelve days off for just six vacation days.
May 26 to May 29 (four days off for one vacation day)
Maybe you need a short city trip around this time. In that case, you can take off on May 27, giving you four consecutive days off. Ascension Day falls on the 26th. Ideal for a round trip to Paris, for example.
June 4 to June 12 (nine days off for four vacation days)
The vacations just keep coming: when you request off from June 7 to June 10, you can enjoy no less than nine days of vacation.
December 24 to January 1 (nine days off for four vacation days)
Okay, I admit that Christmas Day and New Year's Day don't fall very favorably this year, but to still get the most out of it, you can take off from December 27 to December 30, so you have a nice nine days of vacation.
