Amalia voor president

And again Amalia has touched my heart. First she did that by dismissing that rather ridiculous amount of, what was it, 1.6 million per year. Her reason? She had it a lot easier and more polished in her life than her fellow students, so why on earth (my words) would she need that 16 million? That didn't feel right. And it actually wasn't. So, kudos part 1.
Now Amalia wanted to join the student corps. A family tradition about which undoubtedly a solid and entertaining story was served at every birthday. Although I'm not team corps, I understood that quite well.
When the sperm bucket case dominated the news, one of the first things I thought (after I picked my jaw up from the floor) was: what is Amalia going to do?
People around me said: she's staying a member. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time a family member disregarded some rules. I mention Greece, the birthday party during corona times, and we could keep tapping from the barrel of imperfections for a while. Nothing human is foreign to the Oranges, I might say. Not even a card out of measure.
But now I treated myself to a guilty pleasure magazine (I have my weaknesses too, especially on a warm summer day) and what did my eye see? An article stating that Amalia thanked for the student corps. She felt that given the recent developments, it was not appropriate to join. And suddenly I no longer had a jaw on the ground, but two hands clapping together in pride.
That is our new queen. One with a straight back and a strong spirit.
