Leave it to Vivian Hoorn to scrape off the shiny layer of the Insta-world. She created Jaqueline Timemachine, a second account where she shows the backside of her Insta-world. Think lots of double chins, windblown hair, smudged makeup, and other situations that are relatable and make you feel better about yourself, which earns her a well-deserved 53,000 followers.
On her ‘real’ account, the most glamorous parties and venues alternate with images where Vivian showcases her body in all its glory. Love yourself, is her motto. Even that extra roll. Self-love is the beginning, the rest follows naturally.
On Monday, Vivian managed to aim one (I hope) last devil off her shoulder. She posted a photo of a happy moment and thanked the photographer for ‘capturing’ the cheerful Viv, only to share that she has struggled with depression for a long time. Her post received more than 35,000 likes and 642 heartfelt responses.
Let there be more people like Viv. Honest and vulnerable; we need more of that than the umpteenth filter and the photoshopped waist.
