Why you want to watch the latest season of MAFS Australia

Olivia and Jackson from MAFS Australia

Do you know that feeling of healthy tension, mixed with a bit of fear for the long-awaited new season of your favorite series? I had a bit of that with the ninth season of Married At First Sight Australia, where today the last episode has been released online: that is of course the reunion (and also the juiciest episode of the year). My MAFS addiction started with binge-watching season 6 with Mike (still in love), Heidi, and of course Jess, and I seriously thought nothing could top this. But I really have to be honest: this ninth season is a strong contender.

Not least because there is a Mike 2.0 in it, aka Brent. This man, guys. THIS. MAN. So attractive, sweet, fun, nice, and respectful. And especially that last one is a trait that few MAFS participants seem to possess. Since I saw him, I've been scheming a plan on how to subtly slide into his DMs from the other side of the world. If you have any ideas about that, I would love to hear them.

But we mainly watch MAFS Australia for the drama, of course. And meine gute, that drama was in full swing. The previous season was quite talked about because of Bryce and his relationship with Melissa. In fact: official complaints were even filed against him. Understandably so, because he was really textbook toxic and you really don't want someone like that on TV. It's bizarre that Melissa and he are still together and have even become parents of twins.

But did you think Bryce was bad? Seriously, you HAVE to watch this season. The ultimate villain this time is Olivia and I seriously screamed at the TV. Full of aggression. Wanted to throw things. How can someone be like this? And maybe it's a bit blind of me, but I didn't realize at first that she was such a gigantic witch. She has turned into a true Cruella De Vil and every time you think it can't get worse, she manages to outdo herself again.

And yes, petitions have also been started against her that have been massively signed. She was an assistant teacher, with an emphasis on ‘was’; she lost her job and studies due to her scandalous behavior on the show. Then you've really gone too far. And I still understand it. What a horror of a person. Sure, I love drama too, but this was just almost on the edge. Or actually just over it.

The most striking thing is that this Olivia hardly dares to go out since MAFS has been on TV in Australia. She received so many negative reactions and was often harassed by strangers on the street, to the point where she no longer felt safe. That's not okay, of course, and the production felt the same way.

That's why the production decided to re-edit the last two episodes (the reunion and the accompanying dinner party); Olivia would then come off a bit better. Well, those episodes just aired and it's really painful how mean and terrible she is, so now all the fans are wondering: how bad is she in real life if this was the good edit? So that plan of the producers didn't go exactly as intended, but one thing is for sure: it definitely hasn't become a boring season.

Besides the villains, we also have the favorites: the nice couple, the couple-you-don't-trust-but-will-surprise-you, and of course the cheaters. Because is a season of MAFS Australia really complete without an affair?

Unfortunately, this season is not yet available on Videoland, but no worries. Send me a message at Instagram and I have all the episodes for you, but without subtitles. And believe me: you want to watch this as soon as possible.
