Why it is fantastic to be an aunt

Last night I returned from a wonderful family vacation. Together with my parents, brother, sister, my sister's little ones, and all our ‘partners’, we spent a week in lovely Mallorca. What I enjoyed the most about this trip? Spending every day with my little nephew (one year) and niece (two years). Yes, I truly mean this, being an aunt is really fantastic. I laugh all day long at those little ones and at the end of the day (or when they cry) I happily hand them back to my sister. Isn't that ideal?
All proud aunts will surely recognize the beautiful things below:
1. You are not responsible for the upbringing
This is of course the best part of everything: all the heavy tasks surrounding upbringing, you have nothing to do with that. In fact, you probably hinder the upbringing because with aunt everything is allowed, like eating countless ice creams and watching videos on the iPad. But well, that's what aunts are for; we are not responsible for the consequences.
2. You don't have to change diapers
As soon as I smell a poopy diaper, I take my nephew/niece straight to their mom or grandma. Changing diapers is just not meant for aunts. Just like putting them to bed, dressing them, feeding them, getting up extremely early, and basically everything that comes with the necessary whining. In short: you have all the advantages and no disadvantages as an aunt.
3. The auntie duty can be started and stopped at any moment
As soon as there are difficulties, your auntie duty stops immediately. Or when you just feel done with it because you want to lie in the sun or swim, for example. That's the ideal part of being an aunt: you choose when to participate and when to take a break. Unfortunately, being a mother is really full-time.
4. You are seen as the great hero
Because of all the spoiling, you are quickly regarded as a great hero by your nephew/niece, and that is of course fantastic. Additionally, you are non-stop busy entertaining, because you also want to be and remain that favorite aunt.
5. For your own brother/sister, you are also a hero
As an aunt, you also serve as a nanny, and that makes your own brother or sister very happy. When the auntie duty is on, mom and dad finally have a moment of peace. A win-win for everyone.
6. You behave shamelessly like a child
As an aunt, you fully participate in dressing up, talking in baby talk, dancing silly, and everything that your little relatives find wonderful. Additionally, you get to rediscover the entire Disney series, snack on the tastiest kids' snacks (soft Liga cookies and raisins from boxes), and laugh at simply everything. Being as happy as a child is exactly what being an aunt does to you.
