Science says: pizza makes you work harder

With this article, I am going to make all diehard pizza lovers (including myself) incredibly happy, because I can be so blissfully happy with this Italian invention. It is undoubtedly the only dish I could eat every day without getting tired of it. Pizza simply never disappoints.
But now comes the good news: besides the fact that the taste of pizza is of course delicious, you will also work harder because of it. Yes, you read that right. If we are to believe researcher Dan Ariely, pizza is actually really good for your productivity. How he came to this fantastic discovery? Ariely conducted research on rewarding employees in a factory in Israel and divided them into two groups. One group received a compliment or even a thirty-dollar raise, while the other group was rewarded with a slice of pizza.
The outcome? The employees who received pizza were significantly more productive. The people who got a raise were strangely less productive, and their performance was even worse the next day. Strange, right? This just shows how beneficial pizza can be. But to be fair, as happy as pizza makes me, I must admit that I would prefer to receive a raise over a slice of pizza. A weekly team outing to the pizzeria seems like a good alternative, as it still gets the employees working harder through that pizza. Brilliant idea, right?
