Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the food lovers of online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat and what to cook. This time our chefs serve you: 4x ways to open wine without a corkscrew.

Weekend! Time for a refreshing glass rosé or Sauvignon Blanc. But nooooo, suddenly you can't find a wine opener among all those other kitchen gadgets in the drawer! Don’t panic, because with these clever tricks you can open that bottle easily.

Before we give you some handy tips, a disclaimer is needed. Don't do this with a precious bottle of wine because the tricks are not 100 percent foolproof. Act at your own risk.

Opening a wine bottle without a corkscrew, here's how you do it
1. Heat the neck of the bottle with a lighter. This takes a few minutes. The heat causes the air to expand and slowly pushes the cork up and pops it out of the bottle.

2. Screw a long screw into the cork with a screwdriver until it only sticks out a few millimeters. Just enough to hold the screw between the tines of a fork and pull it out with some force. Note: the fork may bend a bit, so leave the heirlooms in the drawer.

3. You may have seen this; people putting a wine bottle in a shoe and then banging the shoe with the sole against the wall. Another option, ideal for picnicking in the park, find a sturdy tree stump, take off your sweater or shirt and wrap the bottle with it. Remove the capsule from the bottle and hit the bottom of the bottle, which you hold horizontally, against the tree stump until the cork is almost out. You can pull the last bit out yourself, if necessary with your teeth...

4. For the real wine drinkers with muscles, you can also push the cork into the bottle, for example with the handle of a fork or the handle of a wooden spoon. This way the cork ends up in your bottle, but if you do it right it will stay intact.
