These are the five most important spring cleaning tips for your mind

Today is the first day of spring and that means you have officially survived the winter. Besides the fact that you absolutely deserve a pat on the back for this (because it took a long time, right?), it is also time for a much-needed spring cleaning. While it is wonderful to give your home a good going-over at the beginning of spring, there are, in my opinion, many more things in life that could use a spring cleaning. Just to usher in the most delightful time of the year fresh and fruity. Curious about what else you can sweep through this spring, besides your home? I’ll list it for you.
What you eat
We have to face it: the months in which we could hide our winter layer under our sweater are over. Not that a winter layer necessarily needs to be hidden, of course, but as we head towards summer, I personally always find it nice to start eating a bit healthier again. Let’s just ignore the fact that I dreamed about McDonald's last night. Paying a bit more attention to what you eat during your spring cleaning can be as simple as getting rid of all the junk food in your pantry, watching your sugar intake, and trying out new, light, and healthy recipes. A child could do it.
What you read
Spring is the time for growth, so let’s put aside books that don’t inspire development for a moment. It doesn’t all have to be heavy; books that simply make you happy are enough to give your mood a boost. I’m a big fan of Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton. It reads easily and you also learn everything there is to learn (according to Dolly) about love.
What you listen to
Life hack: listening to a fun podcast while cleaning always makes boring chores a lot more enjoyable for me. I really love podcasts and I can entertain myself for hours with the hilarious episodes of ‘Zus & Zo’, where sisters Elise and Vita Boers talk about life and being pregnant together (guaranteed to make you laugh out loud), ‘Geuze & Gorgels’, and I’m just going to admit it: I can’t get enough of the quaintness (in the best sense of the word) of ‘Marc-Marie and Aaf find something’. Oh, and making a summer playlist also works wonders for your mood.
What you watch
Say goodbye to negative television this spring. The past winter has already given us enough stress, so it’s time for something light. I always love to rewatch my favorite series. That way, you know for sure that you’ll be entertained and you know exactly what’s coming: nice and stress-free.
Who you follow
I love doing this: this spring, sweep through your Instagram feed. Unfollow everyone who no longer brings you joy, who makes you feel insecure, or who you simply have nothing in common with anymore. Do you find it a bit too boring on Instagram after that social spring cleaning? Then look for new, positive accounts to follow. Look for people who inspire you, bring positive news, or simply make you happy, and you and your feed will be completely ready for the new season.
