Oh no: is the perm coming back again?

Yep, yet another 80s look being recycled. This time we really have to admit: it's the turn of the old-fashioned perm. I can't be the only one thinking of my grandma from back in the day. She went to the rollers every month until she was 87, although I suspect she was one of the few left in the salon who still chose this hairstyle. But that will change soon: the permanent curls are back and better than ever.
Now we all know that a real perm is the worst thing you can do for your hair. That's also the reason we're swapping the mini rollers and perm solution for a somewhat ‘healthier’ alternative: the faux perm. Models Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid, and Irina Shayk have already been spotted with the hairstyle, and of course, they look stunning. It couldn't be any other way. And let's be honest: who doesn't dream of such a full head of curls? I certainly do, with my wavy hairstyle currently stuck in an awkward phase between straight and curly hair.

Does this mean we all have to make an appointment at the hairdresser? Not at all. You can easily recreate the faux perm yourself. Grab your heat protector and thinnest curling iron and start curling. The thinner the iron, the more curls, the more volume. To make it look more natural, you can gently ‘pluck’ the curls apart with your fingers or brush them through with a wide-toothed comb. It does take some time, but it's worth it.
I would say: put that straightener away for once and try the faux perm. You'll definitely make a statement and you can keep it going for a whole evening. At least you won't risk it falling flat after ten minutes.
