Science says: after so many swipes you have found your lover

I too swiped in a distant past. Not because I desperately wanted a relationship, but more out of boredom. Just looking around to see what the hype was about. And I get it. Swiping is incredibly addictive and a good ego booster, I must admit. Sometimes I had a match that made me think: wow, they find me interesting too. More than a short superficial conversation often didn’t happen. I would have found it somewhat fun, really, but the fear of ending up in the house of a murderer like Jeffrey Dahmer was great. That’s why I never took it seriously.
Of course, there are plenty of people who dare to do it. Several friends around me have met their lover through a dating app, and another acquaintance just got married last week with her Tinder match. So there is hope. Really. But you will need to have some patience for that. An American study has shown how many swipes are needed to find your true love. And hold on, it takes longer than you would think.
Well, here it comes… 3,960 swipes. For the average woman, this takes 8 months and 11 days. That’s about 6 hours of swiping a week. I repeat: SIX HOURS. For men, it takes even longer: they take over nine months.
If I were you, I would start by re-downloading all the dating apps. It might take a while, it seems. Swipe away!
