Bed rotting is the hype we're all participating in today

By

It is the self-care trend on TikTok: bed rotting. Admittedly, it sounds a bit gross, but I would be lying if I said I don't regularly indulge in this. Bed rotting is simply a modern term for staying in bed while you should actually be doing other things, in order to relax. The art is to do as little as possible during your day in bed. Hours of scrolling on TikTok or binge-watching your favorite series are the ultimate bed rotting activities. And let's be honest: don't we all have an incredible need for that today? If you ask me, this is the perfect plan for those vague days between Christmas and New Year's.

Scientists do warn that you shouldn't make a habit of this. It can disrupt your sleep, contribute to feelings of depression and anxiety, stimulate worrying, increase your stress, and no one becomes a more energetic person from more screen time. That said, you have my full permission today to stay cozy in your soft bed. And tomorrow too, by the way, I won't tell anyone.
