‘These are the 10 best horror movies of all time’

I used to only watch horror movies and thrillers, but nowadays I notice that I get scared a bit faster than before. I can still enjoy them, though I prefer not to watch them in the dark at night but rather safely during the day. I thought I had seen most horror movies, until I came across this topic on Reddit: where enthusiasts share their all-time favorites. The horror movies that are truly 10/10. I'm curious how many you can check off; I still have way too few, so I have a long watch list ahead of me.
1. ‘The Thing. Everything about it just works. The plot is good, the cast is good, the monster is terrifying, the tension is palpable, there are plenty of jump scares, and the ending stays with you for days. There is literally not one thing wrong with this movie.’
2. ‘Alien. This movie has stuck with me so much that it has become my only recurring nightmare.’
3. ‘The Wailing from 2016 is truly a masterpiece. A must-see for any horror fan.’
4. ‘Event Horizon, although it never gets the credit it deserves. It's an older film but it doesn't feel outdated at all. In 2023, you can still watch it and enjoy it.’
5. ‘REC. The second part is also very good, but not the Hollywood version of it (Quarantine), that one is truly terrible.’
6. ‘The Descent. I saw it in the cinema and it made me so uncomfortable. Don't watch it right before you go camping in the wilderness…’
7. ‘The original Halloween movie. Still my favorite movie of all time, and every time I watch it, I'm just scared again.’
8. ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Truly a classic horror film and I love the characters. It feels very realistic, it's very well directed, and the twists are unexpected.’
9. ‘It Follows really left me shaken for three days afterward. A good message, terrifying, and I still think about it.’
10. ‘The Strangers, especially because it really feels like it could happen to you too. Nothing too exaggerated. 10/10.’
