Everything we know about season 6 of Black Mirror

By
Black Mirror

Call me a mega nerd, but I am a huge fan of Black Mirror. I did come embarrassingly late to the existence of this series (a bit like when my boyfriend refuses to watch TikToks, only to end up two months late catching up via Instagram Reels), but that did give me the opportunity to binge five seasons at once. And how. The episodes are so well and thoughtfully crafted, and since each episode features a completely different cast and a different story, you actually feel like you are watching a series of mini-movies about the future of technology. It might sound boring if you've never seen it, but take my word for it (someone who also prefers to watch reruns of SATC and Gossip Girl) that this series will keep you on the edge of your seat.

We didn't get much wiser from the trailer that Netflix released last week, aside from some familiar faces, plenty of action, and appropriate creepiness. Fortunately, they didn't stop there because after shouting ‘huh?!’ three times, they came out with the names and a short description of all five episodes: hooray! This is definitely spoiler alert worthy, but come on, aren't you mega curious too?

Episode 1: Joan is Awful

Episode 1 is about a woman who discovers a streaming platform featuring a drama series about her own life. The woman playing her is portrayed by Salma Hayek, who is essentially playing herself in this episode. As a huge fan of The Truman Show, I am really looking forward to this episode.

Episode 2: Loch Henry

In Loch Henry, we follow a couple who is filming a nature documentary in a Scottish town but unexpectedly stumble upon a thrilling local story that brings dark events from the past to light. I think this episode is going to score very high on the thriller meter, as nothing good has ever happened in a deserted town in the middle of Scotland in the films and series I watch.

Episode 3: Beyond the Sea

Already my favorite episode because Aaron Paul, aka Jesse from Breaking Bad, gets to play the lead role. Besides my mega crush on this man (can you blame me?), he is also an incredibly good actor that I want to see more of. This episode is about an alternative timeline in 1969, where two men on a high-tech mission struggle with the consequences of an unimaginable tragedy. Good, wonderfully vague, this story, but I can't wait.

Episode 4: Mazey Day

This story follows a rising star who is harassed by the paparazzi while she has to deal with the consequences of a hit-and-run accident. Zazie Beetz plays the lead role (you might know her from Deadpool or Joker), so however vague this description may be, this is undoubtedly going to be a fantastic episode.

Episode 5: Demon 79

Black Mirror takes another leap back in time this season. In this episode, we go back to 1979, where a shy saleswoman is told that she must commit terrible acts to prevent a potential disaster. Sounds cozy.

The exact day the episodes will be available on Netflix is still unknown, but I can already tell you that I will be absolutely unreachable that day. Can't wait!
