Want to know: Cakes & Bubbles in London

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: want to know: Cakes & Bubbles in London.
I often get the question: ‘What are really cool hospitality concepts?’ Here I provide the answer. Weekly, I take you to the most special restaurants, bars, and hotels both at home and abroad. Today, a dessert restaurant that you really shouldn't miss if you have a sweet tooth: Cakes & Bubbles in London.
Good news for everyone who loves desserts: more and more good ‘dessert restaurants’ are opening their doors, especially abroad. One of the best examples of this is Cakes & Bubbles in London, located in the luxury hotel Café Royal on the lively Regent Street.

Iconic chef
The restaurant looks stunning with all its golden elements and towering windows, and there is also an iconic chef at the helm. It is the Spanish Albert Adrià, known from the legendary restaurants ElBulli*** (closed in 2011) and Tickets* in Barcelona, and in 2015 named The World Best Pastry Chef.

Signature dishes
At Cakes & Bubbles, you can order famous signature dishes from Adrià, such as the iconic Tickets cheesecake. This is packaged like a cheese (very Instagrammable) and contains Baron Bigod brie, hazelnut, and a shell of white chocolate (tip: drink a Gonzalez Byass sherry with this). Or choose the very airy air pancake: no, not a regular pancake, but one filled with yogurt foam and maple syrup.

Golden egg flan
Feeling a little peckish? Then go for one of the bites, such as the golden egg flan with dark caramel or the stroopwafel sandwich ice cream. And do you want to taste the best of the best? That's possible too! Adrià has put together a special tasting lunch menu of four courses. Prefer savory? That's possible too, the menu features very nice pizzas and salads.
Champagne
And also not bad: with six champagnes available by the glass on the menu, Adrià wants to encourage guests to discover the combination of sweet and champagne.
Café Royal
By the way, if you visit Cakes & Bubbles, be sure to step into the beautiful Café Royal as well. This hotel is the sibling of the Amsterdam Conservatorium Hotel.
