This garment makes you a lot more productive at home
Anyone who knows me knows that I am always looking for ways to boost my productivity. When it comes to household chores, I am the queen of procrastination. For example, as I write this, a hefty load of laundry is waiting for me, my fridge could use a wipe, and my bedroom does not look like any magic is happening there. I don't know what it is, but when I come home, I just don't feel like doing housework on top of my regular job. This is not beneficial for the environment I find myself in after work, because a messy house also means a messy mind, and you never really get to relax that way. You can understand my relief when I saw that there is a very simple solution for this that even the laziest housewife can apply: wearing shoes in the house.

The reason this trick works is very simple: we put on shoes at the moment we are going to do something active. Think about working, grocery shopping, or exercising. By keeping your shoes on when you get home, you give your brain a signal that it is time for activity. And because you are already in motion, it is easier to stay productive. The moment your shoes are off, it is too tempting to adopt a relaxed posture, and more effort is needed to get into an active stance, which means you are most likely to completely neglect your household tasks.

Research shows that running shoes work best in this case because we already associate them with movement, but it seems to me that any comfortable sneaker is suitable for this. It is actually quite funny how easily we can fool ourselves, but hey, any life hack that allows me to buy a new pair of shoes with good conscience is one that I think is worth trying.
