The dating world has never been one where I felt very much at home. Better said: I find it terrifying. Going on a date with another person, perhaps even a complete stranger, already gives me sweaty palms. Maybe that's not entirely fair, because the dating world is changing according to experts. In the coming year, there are four important trends in this area, and according to experts, these are very good changes. Well singles, read along: this is what you can expect further in 2023.

1. Edudating
There is talk of edudating when singles start to find intellectual level and education more important than appearance, and even physical attraction. By the way, according to dating experts, this is not a bad trend at all, because it would encourage singles to form deeper bonds, which have a longer shelf life than just physical attraction.

2. Emo-dating
According to a study by Seeking, over 32 percent of single men are primarily looking for someone with whom they can build a deep emotional connection. And that's what emo-dating is about: being able to show your emotions to your partner, date, or fling. Tears are allowed to flow. This is also a trend that is welcomed by psychologists, because the sooner you are comfortable enough with each other to talk about your feelings and show them, the better.

3. Wanderlove
Well, the word says it all a bit: this indeed has to do with wanderlust. Because after a few years of corona, we can travel again, and that's what we want to do. And vacation romances can also be part of that. There is talk of wanderlove when both of you do not want to limit it to a vacation romance but want to enter into a serious relationship, even if you might live in different countries.

4. Main character energy
In other words: putting yourself first. According to experts, this has only become important in the last few years, and before that, we prioritized our love. Here too, corona has had a significant influence: since the pandemic, we have learned to set our boundaries better, know what we do and do not want, and want to waste less time on people with whom it does not click. This is also the trend that experts say will become the biggest in the coming years, and to be honest: I already see that happening around me.
